Believe with us. The Emily Whitehead Foundation was named for one pediatric cancer patient. But not a day goes by that we aren’t thinking about the 400,000 children who are newly diagnosed with cancer each year. We believe that, together, we will turn Emily’s story into tens of thousands of survivor stories.
Believe With Us
The Believe Ball is our signature fundraising event where Warriors and their families, leaders in the advanced therapies community and esteemed guests and supporters gather together in Philadelphia, the city where Emily became the first pediatric patient treated with CAR-T therapy. This inspiring event celebrates the courageous journey of Warriors and their families and supports a brighter future for all patients who can be treated with advanced therapies.
We will host our next Believe Ball in 2026, you can show your support for our mission by making a donation now. Every contribution helps us connect more patients to clinical trials and support and advocate for all patients who can be treated with advanced therapies. Believe with us, and together we will Activate the Cure.
Make An Impact
Cancer patients often share a similar storyline: diagnosis followed by chemotherapy or radiation treatment. However, even when patients reach remission, many develop long-term side effects or secondary cancers as a result of these harsh treatments.
We want a different journey for these Warriors – one without toxic treatments, fear of relapse, or loss of life.
The Emily Whitehead Foundation is working every day to #ActivateTheCure and provide support to patients and their families fighting cancer.
Dreaming to Believing to Curing
On September 27, 2024, the Emily Whitehead Foundation hosted its Believe Ball in Philadelphia, the city where Emily became the first pediatric patient treated with CAR-T therapy, to believe in a brighter future for patients and their families. The evening was filled with inspiring stories and meaningful connections that we will never forget.
Embassador Awards
The Foundation is proud to recognize and lift up the patients, patient advocates, caregivers, doctors and researchers who are driving life-saving advanced therapy treatments forward.
At the Believe Ball, the Foundation recognizes recipients of its Embassador Awards including the Bill Ludwig Advanced Therapies Pioneer Award and the Patient Beacon Award.
The Foundation also presents The Nicole Gularte Fight for Cures Grant. The grant is given to an early career scientist who is emboldened with the indomitable and unconquerable spirit of Nicole Gularte to develop, create and deliver access to advanced therapies for pediatric patients and to significantly contribute to the field of advanced therapies.
Believing in a Brighter Future
We believe that every patient deserves access to innovative therapies that are less toxic and more targeted. We believe in a better journey for patients and their families. We believe in a future where diseases no longer define their story. Believe with us, and together, we can create a brighter future for more Warriors and their families.
