Emily Whitehead Foundation co-founder Kari Whitehead will be attending the 2017 American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting, held April 1 through April 5 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

The AACR Annual Meeting highlights the best in cancer science and medicine, bringing together representatives from institutions around the world to discuss advances in the field of cancer science. Kari was selected to attend as part of the 2017 Scientist-Survivor Program, which further connects survivors and patient advocates with the scientists and clinicians in attendance.

On Sunday, April 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Kari will be presenting a patient advocacy poster titled "A Parent's Perspective: Journey to Pediatric CAR T-Cell Therapy". This poster will outline the Whitehead family's journey, from Emily's life-saving T-cell therapy treatment to the establishment of the Emily Whitehead Foundation as an opportunity to raise awareness and advocate for cancer research funding.

Kari will also participate in Progress and Promise Against Cancer on Saturday, April 1 as a panelist in the discussion, "Improving Cancer Patient Care: Latest Advances in Cancer Precision Medicine and Immunotherapy". This community event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Grand Hyatt Washington and is FREE to attend!
