We had an incredible first-year experience participating in the TCS NYC Marathon on November 5! Our exceptional team consisted of first-time marathon runners and others who have run many marathons before. Each runner who chose to support the Emily Whitehead Foundation had a different connection to us, but they all ran with the same goal – to activate the cure for childhood cancer.
The Emily Whitehead Foundation set up cheer stations to support our runners at mile 7, 16 and 19 throughout the course. We rang cowbells and held encouraging signs as we watched for our runners to come by. The energy and the crowd support along the course was electric and our runners looked so strong and happy as they passed. At the conclusion of the event, we hosted a reception to celebrate and thank the team.
One runner commented, "It was an absolute honor to run for the Emily Whitehead Foundation team."
Thanks to our amazing team of runners and a generous $2,500 match donation, we raised $35,000. We couldn’t be more grateful for their dedication and support. We celebrate them all on their huge accomplishment and the honor of crossing the finish line, and we look forward to participating again in 2024!
If you wish to help us surpass $35,000 and meet the runner's $45,000 goal, you can still donate!
