On a bright and sunny summer day on July 11, the Emily Whitehead Foundation and Philipsburg Elks Lodge & Country Club welcomed 112 golfers, volunteers, and countless supporters for the Foundation’s 11th annual Tee Off for T‑Cells golf tournament, a heartfelt celebration of community, hope, and progress in the fight against cancer and rare disease.
Thanks to generous sponsors and supporters, the tournament raised over $58,000 bringing the event’s 11-year total to over $558,000!
Presented by CNB Bank, the day was filled with energy, generosity, and purpose. CNB Bank’s presenting sponsorship, paired with additional sponsor support and participation on the course, underscored unwavering commitment in the Whitehead family’s hometown to the Foundation’s work. During the afternoon program, Chris Stott, CNB representative and an Emily Whitehead Foundation Board Member, shared moving remarks that highlighted the importance of community partnerships in driving meaningful change.
The 18-hole, four-person scramble format saw competitive play and impressive scores. The winning team, Keystone Payroll, representing Championship Sponsor, took home top honors with a remarkable 19-under-par 51. Each member of the first-place team was awarded a share of the $400 prize!
Individual contests throughout the course added to the excitement, with players Joey Sabol, Brandon McCliment, Mason Roof, Eddie Myers, and Joe Soltis each winning $100 in pro shop credit for their performances.
Longtime supporter and Emily Whitehead Foundation Board Member Jon Condo once again served as the event emcee, kicking off both the morning and afternoon golf flights alongside Foundation Co-Founder Tom Whitehead. Executive Director George Eastwood addressed guests in the afternoon with a message emphasizing the Foundation’s powerful local roots and growing global reach.
Support from the local community played an essential role in the event’s success. The Philipsburg Elks Lodge & Country Club, led by General Manager Bill Kehler, provided top-notch service, delicious food, and a welcoming atmosphere. The Paul C. Fischer Pro Shop ensured smooth tournament play and managed all contests and awards with care.
Volunteers from Blue Mountain, Penelec, CNB Bank, and individual volunteers including the Condo family and Jim and Sandy Whitehead who run the always-popular Orange Crush station, lent their time and energy to bring the event to life. Their contributions, both behind the scenes and on the course, are always appreciated.
The event also benefited from support from Vaux, UPS, Jim’s Sports Center, Dunkin’ (Philipsburg location), Bestway Pizza, Bartolo Enterprises, and PRworks.
Special recognition was given to several Emily Whitehead Foundation Board Members for their outstanding commitment. Jon Condo energized the crowd as an emcee and provided vital volunteer support with his family, Chris Stott represented CNB Bank with passion and poise, Jodie Potter was instrumental in managing event coordination, materials, and check-out, and Bob Madonna continued his tradition of support through generous donations.
We look forward to the 12th annual Tee Off for T-Cells event next year and to continuing hosting the event for years to come!
Thank you to our sponsors!
