The Capers and Friends benefit concert at Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School on Dec. 21 was a joyous evening filled with performances that embraced the spirit of giving. Joined by special musical guests, the Capers spread holiday cheer and proceeds from the concert supported the Emily Whitehead Foundation.

Merry melodies filled the air as the Capers (Amy Jo Belko, Diana Krause, Brett Albert, Shawn Evans, and John Hagyard) joined D.J. Matsko and the Philipsburg-Osceola Select Choir to present a collection of holiday favorites. Dennis Wood from WOKW Radio served as master of ceremonies for the evening, and the audience was abuzz with cheer with everyone feeling uplifted.

In addition to the festive tunes, Emily Whitehead Foundation Co-founder Tom Whitehead shared an update on the Foundation’s work to make it possible for more pediatric cancer patients to become cancer-free and thanked the audience for their support.

“We are going to keep working every day to try to make a difference,” Tom said.

Proceeds from ticket sales and a basket raffle, along with generous donations, helped raise about $2,000 to Activate the Cure for childhood cancer. The Emily Whitehead Foundation is grateful for the talented artists who gave this heartwarming performance and to the Philipsburg community for continuing to support our mission.

Special thanks to local photographers Alan Murphy and Syed Karimushan for capturing the event.
