Philipsburg, Pa., July 2, 2019 — Local pediatric cancer non-profit Emily Whitehead Foundation and NFL veteran and former Philipsburg-Osceola Mountie Jon Condo invite Philipsburg and surrounding area community members to join them for the 5th annual “Tee Off for T-Cells” fundraising event, to be held at Philipsburg Elks Lodge & Country Club on Friday, July 12, 2019.
The annual golf tournament, sponsored by CNB Bank, is the Emily Whitehead Foundation’s longest continuous fundraising event. This year will mark five years for Tee Off for T-Cells — a milestone year that the foundation and Condo look forward to commemorating by incorporating more activities into the day of the event.
“We want to remind everyone that this event is for everyone, not just golfers,” says Condo, who will return to Philipsburg to host the tournament. “We hope to make this event special for all members of the community. It’s fun having the community get together for such a great cause.”
Among the activities being introduced, there will be live music, beer and wine tastings, a handful of kid friendly things to do, and a corn hole tournament that will be open to anyone to participate in exchange for a minimum donation of twenty dollars.
The event’s silent auction will also expand this year and give anyone not able to attend the option to bid electronically through a mobile device and support the event from afar.
“My goal for this year is for everyone to have fun and enjoy themselves knowing that their donations are saving children from all over the world,” says Emily Whitehead Foundation co-founder Tom Whitehead. “This couldn’t happen without the support of our community, sponsors, and the amazing Condo family.”
The proceeds raised from this event will help the Emily Whitehead Foundation in their mission to fund further research and development of pediatric cancer immunotherapy treatments, such as CAR-T cell therapy, so that more children can survive cancer and remain in remission like Emily. To date, the Tee Off for T-Cells event has raised more than $216,000.
“It’s an honor to work with the Whitehead family in pursuit of curing pediatric cancer,” says Condo. “They are a loving family that makes Philipsburg proud. I have fun with the Tee Off for T-Cells event and genuinely enjoy interacting with all of the people in attendance.”
