Philipsburg, Pa., July 10, 2017 —  The Emily Whitehead Foundation will hold its third annual "Tee Off for T-Cells" charity golf tournament on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Philipsburg Elks Lodge & Country Club. This event is a fun opportunity for Philipsburg community members, golfers, local sponsors and special guests to unite in support of raising money for pediatric cancer research.

The CNB Bank sponsored event is to be hosted by Oakland Raiders long snapper and Philipsburg native Jon Condo. The Whitehead and Condo families look forward to reuniting for the tournament's third year.

"I am humbled to be associated with such a wonderful foundation and event," says Condo. "It is the best feeling to know that the money raised at the Tee Off for T-Cells tournament is helping children go home to their families."

In the last two years, the annual golf tournament has raised more than $100,000 for pediatric cancer research — more specifically, helping to support the CAR-T cell research of Dr. Stephan Grupp at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the trial that saved Emily Whitehead's life. This same treatment is currently pending approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which, if approved, will make the therapy accessible to many more children nationwide.

"To be able to raise over $100,000 from our first two tournaments in our hometown is a testament to how much people want to help further the research to give people less toxic treatments to cure them of their cancer," says Emily Whitehead Foundation co-founder Tom Whitehead.

As in the years prior, the event will also be host to silent and live auctions and an evening social hour. The silent auction will be open to the public with no admission fee, while tickets for the live auction and social hour will be available to purchase on site.

"Our goal is to keep this an annual fun event that just keeps growing," says Whitehead. "It is more about making this a fun event than the competition."

The Whiteheads and Condo especially look forward to hosting a fun event for their local Philipsburg community.

"It still inspires me a lot to hold this in our hometown where we had so much support and to have Jon come back to Philipsburg to host it is amazing for us," says Whitehead. "We are very fortunate to have many great volunteers who enjoy helping. It gives many people a chance to get an update and see for themselves how Emily is doing as well."

"I like to think that this event is a special thank you to the community for all of the support that the Whiteheads and the foundation has received over the years," adds Condo. "We are grateful to see so many people step up and be so generous year after year."
