On February 2, 2017 two local high school wrestling clubs, Philipsburg-Osceola and Clearfield, met in a dual-meet at Philipsburg-Osceola High School for the second year in a row to raise money for the Emily Whitehead Foundation. As with last year, the 2nd annual Take Down Cancer event involved community members and spectators with a bake sale, 50/50, basket raffle, ribbon sale and t-shirt sale.
It was a great match—the dual-meet ended this year in a 33-33 tie, with Clearfield winning on the 3rd criteria for having four 6-point wins to Philipsburg-Osceola's three 6-point wins!
As the night concluded, Emily was presented the check by former Penn State wrestlers Jordan Conaway and Morgan McIntosh, representing the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club. We are thrilled that this year's event raised a total $13,533.91!
Many thanks to the Philipsburg-Osceola and Clearfield wrestling clubs and community members for a great night, coming together to Activate the Cure for childhood cancer!
